poetry prompts & work shop guides

I was recently invited by the wonderful poet Jill McDonough to visit with her MFA class at UMass Boston. I thought I would post the prompts that I shared with them, along with the work/shop guides that I’ve been using for my classes at Northeastern University.

I’ve formatted the prompts and guides to be as useful as possible. They are also a critical reflection of my previous course materials/tactics. Moving forward, I’ll try and post a few new prompts every year.

The poetry prompts are indebted to the writers of the poem, and should be credited as such.
